At the Hangar, theater finds ways to pop through the pandemic

“Each phase of this is a new thing,” says Hangar Theatre’s Interim Artistic Director Shirley Serotsky, referring to the series of public health setbacks we’ve dealt with since March. The Covid pandemic has been devastating for theater in general, with institutions scrambling to maintain programs and subscription bases while people can’t gather to enjoy a show in the traditional way. The Hangar, which is streaming a workshop presentation of Jacqueline E. Lawton’s play-in-progress “The Inferior Sex,” starting Friday, Oct. 16, is an example of the resilience of theater in 2020.
